Company History
Founded in 1992, New Heights started out in the outdoor recreation market. In 1996 New Heights modified the product as the company began the transition into the security marketplace. The new, portable security tower was designed around security industry feedback and included a generator, lights and heat/air conditioning. Among the first major customers were the U.S. Border Patrol and the 1996 Olympic Games in Atlanta. Today, New Heights mobile security platforms are used by all branches of the U.S. military and other government agencies, police departments, colleges, prisons and amusement parks, as well as in international markets. The initial platform has evolved and now offers optional bullet proof capability, thermal cameras, public address equipment, ground surveillance radar and wireless transmission capability, to name just a few enhancements.
In September 2005 New Heights became part of ICx Technologies, Inc., significantly increasing its integration capabilities as well as the financial strength of its operations. ICx provides advanced technologies for homeland security and force protection, with operations dating back to 1975. Through Digital Power Capital, its largest share holder, ICx began investing in companies with leading-edge security technologies and was incorporated in 2003. The ICx family of companies offers strong engineering support and innovative products for integration into the various New Heights platforms.
ICx Tactical Platforms has recently joined Inc. magazine’s Inc. 500, the elite list of private growth companies making a significant contribution to the U.S. economy. From its beginning as a manufacturer of hydraulic lifts for the disabled, ICx Tactical Platforms has grown to a ranking of #241 on the Inc. 500 list, joining only 18 other Georgia-based companies.
